About me

I was born in Bratislava on October 8, 1978, into a winemaking family. After graduating from the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering in Bratislava, I continued my studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Since I enjoyed mathematics, physics, and computer science, I chose to specialize in Applied Mechanics. I completed my professional internship in 2007 at the company OMV in the German town of Burghausen. My diploma thesis, titled Selected Applications of a Monitoring System for the Operational Safety of Pipeline Systems, won 1st place in the SPP competition for the best diploma thesis.

While studying at university, I also completed a two-year post-secondary course in astronomy in Hurbanovo. During my studies, I learned how to grind mirror telescopes up to a diameter of 500 mm and spent about a year making them. I even built a machine with control systems to aid in the process. Due to lack of time, I had to set this hobby aside, but I would like to return to it in the future, at least for personal enjoyment.

After completing my studies in 2008, I started working at Anasoft s.r.o. in Bratislava as a systems and network management specialist. Later, I joined Petit Press a.s. as a system administrator. I manage Linux-based servers. My favorite distributions are Debian and CentOS, and I work with monitoring systems like Zabbix and Kibana, as well as centralized management tools such as Git and Ansible. Lately, I’ve been exploring container-based virtualization using Docker.

Outside of work, I have many hobbies. These include metalworking, furniture making, and both low-voltage and high-voltage electrical engineering. Since 2008, I have also been involved in genealogy and history, focusing on processing parish records from Svätý Jur and its surroundings. I also enjoy photography.
