Below is a complete list of all Slovak church records that were scanned by the Mormons in cooperation with state and regional archives, for the purpose of publication, indexing, and further processing on familysearch.org. The data is sorted alphabetically, but even so, I recommend using CTRL+F to search. A preview of the film is available by clicking the link next to the film number. These records were once searchable directly on FamilySearch, although not as comprehensively as here, and their search was limited due to legal reasons. The original FamilySearch source no longer displays them in this form. The list also includes records that are now hidden on FamilySearch. It is still possible to access them, though it’s no longer straightforward for the average user.
The microfilms contain birth, marriage, and death records. They also include lists of persons, confirmations, church data, financial reports, visitations, and more.
The list below contains all church and civil registers that FamilySearch displays for the territory of Slovakia. In addition, I have access to some films that are not officially labeled for Slovakia, including parts of the Lviv region, but which are hidden within FamilySearch. I’m gradually reviewing the differences and adding at least brief descriptions here to make more villages easier to locate. This is a slow process, as there are over 600 films, and I’m working on it alone with very limited time. If you find an error on the page, in a film description, or something catches your interest, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Some films contain villages that are not listed on FamilySearch — I discover them only by browsing through the films manually. Once I find them, I add them to the list here. I no longer offer ZIP downloads of the films, because the cost of data transfer is too high for me. Everything can be found on FamilySearch — and if not, we can agree individually on how to access it.
I’m currently downloading civil registration records of towns and villages, some of which historically fall under Hungary. If a film number is missing and you know it should be here, let me know and I’ll add it.
